The Pianoharp is a kind of Zither and Harp where the strings are hitted by a mechanical hammer action. It’s old and rare too. Strings are organized to play chords and single notes in two sections. And there is an additional repeat function for the single notes.

It is from the early 20th century and sounds pretty intrigue. Like a Zither the melody strings are located on one side of the instrument and the sets of chord strings on the other side. In case of the Pianoharp the strings of the melody side are hitted by the mentioned hammers for single or repeated notes. Chords are played with fingers or guitar plektrum for strum and glissando effects.

The sounds are really unique and the instrument I sampled was in a very good shape although it’s so old. The notes and chords are recorded in a studio with close microphone position, so even the mechanical noise is reproduced with the samples.

This sample library provides several single note multisamples, chords and Glissando samples. Natural and authentic like the original instrument with all notes and full decay, and also enhanced versions with suitable effects coming from convolution reverb, delay and chorus.
